Bi-fold Doors vs French Doors

If you’re thinking of getting new doors out into your back garden, you might be looking at a range of different options. Depending on how much space you have to play with, you might be considering the benefits of having bi-fold doors compared to french doors. Or in fact what the differences are.

At SCI we can help you decide what kind of patio doors are best for you. We have a great range of bi-fold and french doors that can suit any style of property.

Advantages of Bi-fold Doors

Bi-fold doors allow you to essentially open up an entire wall of your home and create a seamless transition from inside to outdoors. This is a wonderful advantage in the summer weather, as it extends your living space straight out into your back garden. These have recently become an extremely popular addition to new build houses and really bring a contemporary and modern style to your home.

But they aren’t just useful on the warmer days; bi-fold doors help to let in a lot of light into your living space. All year round these doors can help make your living space bright and welcoming.

These doors are also not prone to warping or rotting away, and you can choose from PVCu or Aluminium frames. Both of these materials coming with a good selection of colours to choose from.

You also do not have to open up the whole area to walk in and out. There will be one door that can be opened just as a normal door, enabling you good access without creating a draught through the whole area.

Advantages of French Doors

French doors are a more traditional option for patio doors. These are usually two glass doors that open out onto your garden. This style brings a touch of elegance to your home. We also have a wide range of colours to choose from, so you’ll definitely find one to suit your style.

French Doors

Similarly to bi-fold doors, french doors really do wonders when it comes to letting light into your home. This means you’ll be able to enjoy the natural light flooding in, especially if you originally had just a window and have decided to open the space up.  If your home is an older style and perhaps doesn’t have the space for bi-fold doors, french doors are a great alternative. These can be left as plain glass or you can have astragal bars through them to match in with other fitted windows.

The french doors that we supply and fit are also incredibly robust and secure. All of our french doors come with a multi-point locking system and shootbolt security.
