Grand Designs – January Edition

SCI Windows are very proud to have been mentioned in the forthcoming January edition of the online Grand Designs magazine.

A fabulous article has been written by Jane Crittenden from the magazine about a recent transformation of a three bedroom flat in London. It has gone from an uninspiring and standard 2 storey flat to a bright, open and contemporary split level apartment.

Will Perrott bought the 19th century flat, that overlooks the Thames, after he saw it by chance when visiting friends. Working in the commercial property world, he was determined to create something really special.

Walls were knocked down, giving double aspect lighting throughout the lower level of the apartment, creating an open planned kitchen and living space.

The only problem was that he had bought the flat without any rights to the loft space. Therefore, there was only scope to work on the bedroom and bathroom, until a deal was struck with the freeholder.

Working with architect Ben Hawkins of Granit Architects, a beautiful space was created.

IQ Living were in charge of interior refurbishment. Will then appointed SCI Windows, who supplied and installed the two PVCu grey windows in the two front dormers. This will mean they complement the colour of the dormers and are maintenance free – ideal at such a height!

Working on clean lines, double aspect windows, an industrial style staircase as well as clever lighting, the final look for this new London apartment looks fabulous.
