Stained Glass Window Project

We were delighted to be a part of this amazing project. We asked the owners, Claire and Adrian, if they would be willing to write us a bit of information on the renovation of their new home. This is what they had to say:

“My partner Adrian and I bought a maisonette together at the end of 2016 and it was clear it was going to be a big renovation job.

“Our hall has a very large west facing window that benefits from spectacular sunsets as we are on the corner of two roads, so replacing the existing stained glass window felt like an appropriate decision.

“I’m a designer so was really keen to incorporate my own work into the house. SCI originally suggested replacing the existing rusty lead single glazed stained glass with a double glazed replica – but when Neal told me they could accept a custom design I was over the moon.

“After a lot of research and playing around with designs I created the design attached. It was somewhat more complex than Neal at SCI was expecting – but the team quoted for it (very reasonably!) and we went ahead.

“It was certainly one of the most nerve-wracking parts of our renovation project – but the end result is  stunning and it is a feature of the house that everyone comments on when they visit. The workmanship is excellent and the finished product is really accurate to my design as you can see. The window creates fabulous patterns at sunset with the whole room benefiting from the refracted light too.”
