The Benefits Of Aluminium Windows

Even though PVCu is the most popular, SCI Windows’ orders for aluminium windows are still going strong.

If you’re looking for something to replace worn out or rusted steel windows, turning to aluminium can be a perfect solution. Aluminium window production has come on leaps and bounds in recent years, thanks to new technology and advances in the manufacturing process. In fact, there’s many good reasons to consider aluminium windows. Let us tell you more…

First and foremost, aluminium is incredibly versatile and can be used for a number of different types of window.

Advances in fabrication mean they can be made into a variety of shapes and sizes. It’s therefore become very popular in new build and renovations where contemporary window designs are required.

Whether you’re after a modern picture window, a larger casement window, or a traditionally designed window, aluminium can be used across the board. You’ll be guaranteed to find the perfect fit for exterior look of your house or flat.

Strength

The strength-to-weight ratio of aluminium is another advantage. Aluminium windows are much stronger than PVCu windows, and can actually be installed directly into brickwork due to their extra rigidity over other materials, making them perfect for both residential and commercial applications. This additional strength means the sight-lines of the windows can be designed to be much smaller, leading a slimmer profile that lets more light into the room as a result. Moreover, as a non-ferrous metal, aluminium won’t rust. Meaning the windows are suitable for practically all weathers. With all this taken into account, aluminium windows should last decades on your home.

Energy Saving

Previously, many people steered clear of aluminium as a material to use on their windows due to its thermal inefficiency. It’s a material that, on its own, sees heat quickly pass through it – which made it less than ideal for placing in your home. However, advances in window technology now lay this concern to rest.

Aluminium windows are very popular in commercial buildings

Our aluminium windows come with a unique polyamide thermal break design that helps to improve thermal performance. In laymen’s terms, the frame isn’t just one piece of aluminium. Rather, it’s two frames with a piece of material sandwiched between it that does a great job of being non-conductive. This extra piece in the middle conducts around 1000 times less heat than aluminium – so it’s plain to see how it can keep the hot air from escaping your home.

Not only that, it also helps stop condensation gathering on the inside of the window due to a lack of bridging between the aluminium frames.
